Finding Form at the Right Time: A Strong Second Half Push in the GCL
This season has really been about resilience, learning, and trusting the process—and it’s finally starting to come together at the perfect time. The year began on a high note, with strong performances and plenty of confidence. But like any long season, there was a stretch that tested everything: consistency slipped, confidence wavered, and results didn’t always reflect the work being put in. Still, staying within the top five of the Greater Catholic League (GCL) standings showed that the foundation was solid, even when things weren’t clicking.
Instead of trying to force results, the focus shifted back to what matters most—the basics. During that tough stretch, attention went to form, repetition, and mental discipline. Slowing things down and trusting those fundamentals made all the difference. Gradually, scores started to climb again, and confidence followed. That work has paid off in a big way, highlighted by a jump from a 298 series low to a 468 series, now the second-highest of the season. Even more encouraging is that the improvement hasn’t been a one-time spike—it’s carried over from match to match.
Through 15 games, the numbers show steady production and growing confidence. The season average sits just under 200 pins per game, with a high game of 258 and a season-best series of 482. In a league as competitive as the GCL—featuring strong programs like McNicholas, Carroll, and Alter—those numbers put this performance among the top competitors.
Now, the season enters a defining stretch. A huge upcoming matchup against McNicholas on their home lanes could have major implications for second place in the GCL standings. It’s the kind of match that demands not just execution, but focus, preparation, and mental toughness. Soon after comes the GCL Tournament this Sunday, where momentum and consistency will be everything in a loaded field.
What makes this run so encouraging is how it was built. There were no shortcuts—just discipline, patience, and a commitment to fundamentals. By embracing the grind and trusting the process, the season has turned into a true statement of perseverance. With confidence growing and timing lining up, the opportunity is there to finish strong and make something special happen in the weeks ahead.
