The Badin Rams track and field teams delivered a historic performance at the District Championships this past weekend, with multiple athletes earning Regional berths, several district titles, and three new district meet records between the boys and girls programs.
Competing in the Division II District at Bellbrook, the Badin boys showcased their speed and depth in dominant fashion. Junior Preston Davenport led the charge by winning the 100-meter dash and setting a new District Meet Record with a blazing time of 11.49. Teammate Eric Donges also punched his ticket to Regionals with a runner-up finish in the event.
The Rams sprint relay squad continued the momentum in the 4×100-meter relay as Davenport, Donges, Kunkel, and Snellgrove captured the district championship while breaking the District Meet Record in 44.38. Their performance secured another Regional qualification and further cemented Badin’s place among the area’s elite sprint programs.
In the 400-meter dash, Max Snellgrove delivered another standout performance, breaking the District Meet Record with a time of 50.10 while finishing second overall to advance to Regionals. Snellgrove later returned in the 200-meter dash, where he placed third to qualify for the next round alongside Eric Donges, who earned runner-up honors.
On the girls side at the Division III Graham District, the Rams also produced an outstanding showing with several Regional qualifiers across sprint, relay, hurdle, and field events.
The relay teams of Grace Klopfstein, Catherine Hoeting, Tina Becker, and Elizabeth Hoeting continued their impressive postseason run by winning the 4×100-meter relay and finishing second in the 4×200-meter relay. Both performances secured Regional appearances for the quartet.
Individually, Tina Becker and Catherine Hoeting advanced in the 100-meter dash with second- and third-place finishes, while Elizabeth Hoeting claimed a district championship in the 200-meter dash. Becker also qualified for Regionals in the 200 with a fourth-place finish.
In the field events, Grace Klopfstein earned a runner-up finish in the high jump to advance, while Elizabeth Hoeting added another Regional qualification with a second-place finish in the long jump. Abby Mullins also qualified for Regionals in the long jump.
Tilly Westrich rounded out the Rams’ qualifiers with a strong second-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles to secure her spot at Regionals.
The Badin boys will compete in the Regional Championships on Wednesday at Troy High School, while the girls will compete Thursday at Piqua High School.
With district titles, record-breaking performances, and a large group of Regional qualifiers, the Badin track and field program continues to build momentum heading into the next stage of postseason competition. Congratulations to all Rams athletes and coaches on an outstanding weekend.
