Badin High School Announces the Retirement of Head Men’s Soccer Coach Eric Hickey ’87

After 13 exceptional seasons at the helm, Coach Eric Hickey ’87 is retiring as the Head Men’s Soccer Coach at Badin High School. Coach Hickey leaves behind a legacy defined by competitive excellence, unmatched program growth, and a culture rooted in character and team-first leadership.

During his tenure, Coach Hickey transformed the program into one of Southwest Ohio’s most respected. His accomplishments include:

• 5x City Coach of the Year

• GCL Co-Ed Coach of the Year 

• Three consecutive 10-win seasons

• 51 wins over the last four years

• Three District Championships, one Regional Championship, and a State Semi-Final appearance

• Assisted the development of 32 collegiate soccer players

• An overall career record of 105-83-34

Beyond the numbers, Coach Hickey leaves a lasting impact on the young men he coached.

Rowan Brown ’25 shared:
“Coach Hickey did not only make me a better player, he allowed me to become a better person off the field. He will always put you before himself.”

Geoff Melzer ’87, Director of Athletics and Facilities, added:
“Eric has taken a program that wasn’t very good and created a culture that helped build great young men. Winning has been a byproduct of the positive culture Eric has built over the last 13 years. Thank you for your commitment to Badin Athletics!”

We wish Coach Hickey and his family the very best moving forward, and we know we’ll see him back at the Matandy Sports Plex next season supporting the Rams.

Position: Head Coach, Men’s Soccer

School: Badin High School, Hamilton, Ohio

Start Date: 2026 Season

Qualifications:

• Continue established success

• Passion for developing student-athletes both on and off the field

• Ability to build a positive, competitive program culture

• Strong communication and organizational skills

• Prior coaching experience

• Must meet all OHSAA and Archdiocese of Cincinnati coaching requirements
