Luci Heid ’25 Named GCL Player of the Year

Congratulations to Luci Heid ’25 on being named the GCL Player of the Year. Luci has also been named the District 16 Player of the Year, 1st team All District, and was selected to play in the Senior All- Star game.

Badin News Network (BNN) Senior Brynn Brown caught up with Luci…

Luci Heid: an all star athlete. Heid leads the GCL (Greater Catholic League) in kills with a whopping 467 kills. The next closest to her is over 100 kills away. This is a new school record. Luci also set a new school record with 1378 career kills. Her talent does not go unseen as she has already committed to playing in college at Northern Kentucky University. Heid describes her senior season with one word: grit.

This year, Heid could not have done it without her team. Jazmine Starks ‘25 holds her second place title in the GCL for 69 blocks. Carley Nadler ‘27 is 3rd in the GCL with 254 digs. Finally Elysee Weinheimer holds the first place GCL title with 727 assists. The next person closest to her is over 200 assists away.

Communication is the biggest part of the game. I am constantly talking on the court. When you are talking actively as the play is going on, you’re more engaged and more likely to make the play. This was something that we struggled with in the beginning of the season with getting everyone to communicate, but I believe we’ve improved.” This is how Heid leads her team to success.

Overall the Rams went 17-5 in the regular season, 8-2 in the GCL. “My most memorable moment was going to the state final four my sophomore year. Wright State was so loud, yet so calming at the same time. I was so proud of our team that we had gotten there, even though we didn’t get the result we wanted.” Congratulations for a great season and good luck at NKU where many more kills are sure to come.
