Caroline Boyle’ 25 Named 3x GCL Player of the Year
Congratulations to Senior Tennis player Caroline Boyle as she was unanimously named GCL Player of the Year for the 3rd year in a row. Caroline competed at state last week at Wooster College. BNN Senior Brynn Brown caught up with Caroline before her trip to state last week.
“Caroline Boyle is in her 3rd year at State in a row. How has she gotten to where she is? What does her mindset look like? “While on the court I am focused on my match. I am thinking about how I’m playing, what’s working, and what I may need to change or fix.”
Predicted to go further into State than she ever has, Boyle is prepared to come home happy. “To prepare for matches I really focus on practicing a couple days before, trying to focus on things that I want to do. I also just try to keep my body healthy so I can perform to the best of my abilities.” Boyle is going to have to fight for a State Championship. When asked if she will win, she says it depends on her mindset. “Obviously my goal is to win State, but I am going to take it one match at a time.”
Now that she is a senior, she plans on enjoying the homestretch of her last high school season. She says she will be happy no matter how far she goes because she is proud of how she got there. But if she wins, “I credit my success to myself, my family, and my coaches… I couldn’t do any of this without them.” She thanks all of the people in her life that have helped her get to where she is today. But most of all she owes her progress to her grandpa. “I look up to my grandpa. He was the one that first got me into tennis and he still plays to this day.”
As of today, October 17, Caroline has won her first match 6-1, 6-1. This is huge for Caroline and Badin High School is ready to see more from her in the next 2 days. “ Playing tennis for Badin has been amazing. Outside of high school tennis, you aren’t on a team until college so playing for Badin has allowed me to be part of one. I have met many of my close friends through tennis and I have made so many amazing memories with everyone.” Good Luck Caroline!”
Caroline ended up dropping her 2nd match to the eventual state runner up. She ended up with a total of 106 career match wins in the green and white. Caroline has had a great career and has made everyone in the Badin Community proud!
