Senior Luci Heid had some amazing plays and shared with us the goal she has for her team this year, “I mean we’re trying to win every game possible. I mean we had a good run last year, we had a state-run the year before that, so the standards keep getting higher and higher every year.”(Heid). Senior Olivia Schmidt shares a similar hope, “My goal for us is to go as far as we can. It’s me, Luci, and Jazmine’s last season, I wanna make it good for everybody. Go out with a bang, just have a good last season for everyone.”(Schmidt). The team was enthusiastic last night and brought out some great energy, but most importantly they fought hard for their victory.
They had a rough second set but returned from it better than ever. Senior Jasmine Starks shared her thoughts on the team’s performance, “I think we played messy, I don’t think we played as good as we could’ve. We didn’t do terrible, but I do think we could’ve played cleaner and beat Lakota [West] a little faster.”(Starks). Heid made a great point about their future games when asked the same question, “I think we did pretty good. I mean, we got the job done, but I think we can play a lot better as a team and I feel like we play much tougher competition, so we’re gonna have to ramp it up if we wanna be able to win those games.”(Heid). The girls battled it out well and rose to the occasion, even though they felt they could’ve done better.
When asked about her method to achieving her goals for her team Luci Heid highlighted a major obstacle for the team, “I think for us it’s going to be a mental battle. I think we all have the physical talent we need, we just need to bring it all together and mesh as a team, mentally.”(Heid). Badin played a great game and came out with a win over the Lakota West Firebirds, making their record 2-1.
